The municipality of Tuusula is located half an hour’s drive from the centre of Helsinki and fifteen minutes’ drive from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The three population centres Hyrylä, Jokela and Kellokoski provode a good variety of services. Tuusula Rantatie Road is well known for its unique cultural destinations which provide changing exhibitions as well as cultural events.

  • Tuusulan Rantatie Road, a museum road by which several masters of the Golden Era of Finnish fine arts, literature and music such as Juhani Aho, Jean Sibelius, Eero Järnefelt, Pekka Halonen, J.H. Erkko and Eino Leino lived at the end of the 19th century.
  • Kasarmi art centre houses the Tuusula Museum of Modern Art as well as the Museum of Graphic Arts. Jääkärinpolku 2, 09-8718 3465
  • Halosenniemi the home and atelier of the painter Pekka Halonen (1865-1933), built in national-romantic style, stands by the Rantatie road run ning along the shoreline of Tuusulanjärvi lake.   • Aleksis Kivi’s home the Finnish national poet’s last dwelling. Rantatie. 09-8718 3461
  • Lotta Museum at Syväranta commemorates the Lotta Svärd Association, i.e. Finnish women’s auxiliary service corps 1919-1944. Changing exhibitions on the history and work of Lottas in times of peace and during World War II. The museum with a café is open all through the year. Rantatie 39. 09-274 1077
  • Erkkola, the home of the poet J.H. Erkko (1849-1906). The building, which was completed in 1902, is today the venue of occasions ranging from concerts and lectures to theatrical performances and exhibitions. Rantatie 25. (09) 8718 3471.
  • The Anti-aircraft Museum presents - apart from a collection of unique sound detection devices enjoying international recognition - radars, weapons, ammunition and photos which give a general overall view of the development of ant-aircraft defence.Klaavolantie. (09) 8718 3470
  • Tuusula church. a wooden cruciform church dating from 1734. In the graveyard, you will find the graves of Aleksis Kivi and Pekka Halonen. Kirkkotie.
  • Workman’s house museum presents a shoemaker’s and a carpenter’s life and work. Theme exhibitions and work demonstrations. Kirkkotie. 0400-955 255.
  • Ruukki area at Kellokoski  is an old iron works with residential areas in a milieu from the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s. The Ruukki area with its church, the Itämerikeskus-Juhlatalo centre and the hospital compo form an interesting whole completed by an arboretum, a rosarium and a sculptoretum.
