The history of TURKU CASTLE begins in the 1280’s. What was originally a fortified military camp founded by Swedish soldiers developed over the centuries into a massive greystone castle . Today the castle has a museum exhibiting the history of the region and Finland.

ARTISAN MUSEUM AT LUOSTARINMÄKI
Luostarinmäki, the “old town” of Turku was the only quarter that survived in the fire of the town in 1827. Today the area serves as an outdoor museum presenting the life and work of artisans.

WÄINÖ AALTONEN MUSEUM
The WAM museum functions as the art museum of the city as well as commemorating the late Wäinö Aaltonen, the sculptor. Apart from changing exhibitions a variety of cultural events are arranged.
