NATURE DESTINATIONS

Arboretum Mustila is the most remarkable forest park in Northern Europe. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century and covering an area of 120 hectares, Mustila Arboretun is located by Highway 6 and is open every day of the year. Mustila Winery and plant nursery are on the premises. The Arboretum is permanently open for visitors. www.mustila.com


Repovesi National Park
provides an extensive and diverse network of hiking trails running in wild scenery. You can also do canoeing, rock climbing and rowing. The suspension bridge of Lapinsalmi, which weighs five tons and is fifty metres long, is one of the attractions of the park. www.repovesi.com

CULTURE ATTRACTIONS

A visit to Verla Mill Village, a Unesco World Heritage site is a visit right into the middle of a late 19th century milieu. The verdant garden, the old buildings with their imposing architecture and the old carboard mill with the original machinery have been preserved with unbelievable accuracy and piety. Present-day Verla is also a modern village with is entrepreneurs. On your visit to Verla we recommend you to visit the site of a rock painting which is over 6000 years old.

Anjala Manor Museum. The early neoclassic main building presents life at the manor in the 18th and 19thcenturies. Addr.  Ankkapurhantie,  Anjala.  Map

Ankkapurha Industrial Museum. The heart of the museum is Finland’s first continuously running carton machine which was put into operation in 1897 and closed down in 1978. The Church Village of Iitti, which was chosen as the most beautiful village in Finland, is the main venue of the Iitti Music Festival, which is held 9.6. -12.6. The cruciform Church of Iitti, dating from 1693, is a valuable representative of Finnish church architecture and one of our fifteen remaining wooden churches dating from the 17th century. Address. Moisio Art Museum and Manor House. The main building was designed in empire style 1n 1818 by C.L.Engel and completed in 1820. Its symmetry, strength and comfort were goals set by Engel. The high decorative upper floor is dedicated to art while ground floor functions as a café and restaurant.
The Museum provides a year-round changing exhibition with works of some of the best known present-day Finnish artists.

Kaunisnurmi Museum and Handicraft Quarter in Kouvola is an area with old wooden houses preserved to cherish the railway history of Kouvola.
