Located in the greater Helsinki area, the municipality of Nurmijärvi is growing fast, yet retaining a close touch with nature. The municipality includes three densely populated areas, Kirkonkylä, Klaukkala ja Rajamäki. Lake Sääksjärvi, Kiljavannummi Moor and Vantaanjoki River are especially popular with nature and outdoor exercise enthusiasts.

  • Nurmijärvi Church dating from 1793 and the Museum Café housed in the old granary are open June - August. 09 878 9960.
  • Rajamäki Church from 1938 and Klaukkala Church from 2004 represent more modern architecture. (09) 878 9960.
  • St. Nectarios Church in Klaukkala dating from 1995. 020 7220 664.
  • The Main Library houses the Aleksis Kivi Room, drawings by Erkki Tanttu and the library gallery with changing exhibitions.
