Located in the greater Helsinki area, the municipality of Nurmijärvi is growing fast, yet retaining a close touch with nature. The municipality includes three densely populated areas, Kirkonkylä, Klaukkala ja Rajamäki. Lake Sääksjärvi, Kiljavannummi Moor and Vantaanjoki River are especially popular with nature and outdoor exercise enthusiasts.

- The Main Library houses the Aleksis Kivi Room, drawings by Erkki Tanttu and the library gallery with changing exhibitions.
