Porvoo - urban life, archipelago and countryside

The idyllic and historical town of Porvoo takes every visitor’s heart. The second oldest town in Finland is located 50 km east of Helsinki. It is easy to come to Porvoo by car, but also buses from Helsinki are frequent. In summer, Porvoo is also accessible by boat and even by rail: onboard m/s Runeberg or on a Royal Line water bus; on summer Saturdays a museum railcar known as Lättähattu (flat hat) operates on the Porvoo –Kerava railway.

The old Porvoo offers you riverside restaurants, cafés and boutiques. This magnificent wooden quarter may be visited on a guided walk arranged from the end of June till the end of August. Island- or river cruises will attract even the landlubber.
Varied exhibitions and galleries both in the town centre and in the neighbouring areas.

A genuine Christmas atmosphere:
Porvoo is an evocative Christmas town. The beautiful Christmas Street is opened towards the end of November, and at every weekend from then onwards there is always something going on, such as the opening of an event, a traditional Christmas market, a Christmas concert etc.
