Sipoo is a modern (18 000 inhabitant), bilingual municipality close to the capital Helsinki. The river Sipoonjoki runs through the municipality from the wide forest areas in the north, via the flourishing fields towards the shores and islands in the south. The first inhabitants in Sipoo were Swedish settlers in the 13th and 14th centuries.

  • Old church - the church of St. Sigfrid, a grey-stone church dating from the 15th century.
  • New church, built of red bricks in 1885.
  • Exhibition hall Emelie, Library in Nikkilä: art exhibitions
  • Archeological area in Sibbesborg, moats and ramparts.
  • Local museum Sibbesgården, buildings from the 18-19th centuries.
