Eurajoki - sports and culture


The rich history of Eurajoki, a municipality in the province of Satakunta, manifests itself in Liinmaa castle, Vuojoki Manor and the museums on Irjanne Church hill.
Eurajoki Museum of Agriculture,
one of the best of its kind, has Finland’s most comprehensive collection of farming machinery and tools.
Välimaa Croft, once an integral part of Vuojoki Manor, is a place of historical interest exhibiting the history of the Satakunta region by presenting a traditional 1850’s croft in Tarvola village.
Local Heritage Museum. The museum is housed in the premises of the old communal granary built in 1833. The large collection of household, handicraft and other objects exhibits the rich traditions of Eurajoki.
Vuojoki Manor with its park, commissioned by Lars Magnus Björkenheim and designed  by Carl Ludvig Engel, was completed in 1836. Today Vuojoki Manor serves as a culture and tourism centre housing a first class restaurant. Role guidance. Inquiries 02-83997700.

Eurajoki is traversed by two rivers,
the Eurajoki river and the Lapinjoki river. The municipality area also includes several kilometres of seashore. There are two churches dating from different centuries: Irjanne Church, the oldest wooden church in the Satakunta region, was completed in 1731 and the Baroque belfry in 1758. On the church hill, apart from the museum buildings, stands the memorial stone of Marshal Åke Tott who was once active in Eurajoki. Eurajoki Church, bearing the name of King Gustavus II Adolphus of Sweden, was completed in 1803.

A Foucalt Pendulum
constructed by Lecturer Jukka Mattila is located at Vesitorninmäki. Originally invented by the French physicist Leon Foucault, the pendulum, among other things, proves that the earth rotates on its axis.
