The beautiful seaside town of Närpes has traditions extending back to the 14th century. The town is marked by the vicinity of the sea, villages in beautiful scenery, well-kept farmhouses and gardens.

There are excellent places to eat or stay overnight. Greenhouse gardening, which is very important for Närpiö, is celebrated every year with a special Tomato Carnival. The medieval church of Närpes is surrounded by 150 church stables, unique in Finland. Next to the church hill lies the Öjskogsparken museum area including twenty museum buildings, Närpes Theatre, a summer theatre with a rotating stand. Frank Mangs Center is a historical attraction on the premises of the home farm of the writer and revivalist preacher Frank Mangs.
Närpiö has beautiful cycling and hiking trails, swimming beaches, as well as fishing and boating possibilities.
