Parkano - Diverse sub-regional commercial centre with good communications, yet close to wilderness.
Kolmoskeskus, shopping centre at the junction of highways 3 and 23 offers retail services for all, e.g. shops, service stations, catering facilities and a large number of special shops such as a Nanso outlet shop and a Reima-Tutta outlet shop.
The Old Centre in the immediate vicinity of Kolmoskeskus has special shops, cafés and services. A weekly market on Fridays and the special markets and various events taking place at the market square complete the range of services offered as well as providing an opportunity to meet friends.
Käenkoskikeskus, on the shores of the Kaidatvedet chain of lakes offers entertaining moments with dancing, celebration and activities connected with the lake. From March to December there are evening dances with music by Finnish top artists. The Käenranta restaurant is open on dancing evenings, on special occasions and by appointment.
The Vesipääsky ferry operates from Käenkoski to the Forestry Museum along the waters of the Kaidatvedet wilderness water protection area. The pleasant vessel, seating 60 people, provides scheduled as well as chartered cruises.
Käenkoskikeskus offers year-round sauna facilities. During the winter ice swimming, which is a very popular exercise, is provided three times a week. The site also has a few caravan pitches.
Käenkoskikeskus is also a popular venue for meetings, parties and corporate events
The Käpykintukka nature trail from Käenkoski to the Forestry Museum is a 7km long well-marked trail providing hikers with some spectacular scenery. www.kaenkoski.fi
At the Museum of Forestry you can make your own campfire coffee and get acquainted with the history and culture of forestry either by yourself or with a guide. The museum compound includes a loggers´ cabin, a stable, a sauna and a log floating platform. The exhibition hall presents old forestry equipment and small machinery.
Accomodation facilities include a hotel, a camping site, a dugout and a holiday cabin. The Pesti Hotel is located in the Old Centre whereas Pahkalanniemi Camping is next to Kolmoskeskus.
Fishing, horse riding, paddling and hiking facilities are provided in the town centre or near by. With us everything is near at hand.
