“The Koli of Ostrobothnia”
The municipality of Vimpeli is located on the eastern shores of Lake Lappajärvi, the largest lake in the province. Lakeaharju skiing centre with a large holiday cabin village is located in the vicinity of the lake on the slopes of Lakeaharju hill resembling the high Koli mountains of northern Karelia. The baseball-type Finnish game ‘pesäpallo’ forms an almost inseparable part of the summer of Vimpeli, including the baseball club and the baseball arena with a roofed spectator stand. The atmosphere during a game cannot be described in words, it must be seen.
