From the River to the Fells!

The municipality of Kolari, located in the valley of the River Tornio at the Swedish border offers services and experiences at all times of the year. The Ylläs Fell Area provides the most extensive crosscountry skiing tracks and downhill slopes in Finland. You can also conquer Yllästunturi Fell in snowshoes or in a snowmobile. The Muonionjoki and Tornio Rivers forming together the longest unharnessed water route in Europe as well as the numerous smaller water courses provide excellent opportunities for fishing and other water related activities. The signposted hiking trails in the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park guide hikers deep into the wilderness and safely back in summer and during the colourful ruska season in autumn.
A wide range of events provides things to see and experience all round the year, such as Ylläs Jazz Blues, Ylläs Soikoon Music festival, Kurtakko Culture Weeks, Jokijalka Salmon fishing and Market event, to mention only a few.

Welcome to Kolari and Ylläs!
