Pudasjärvi is well known for Iso-Syöte, Finland's southernmost fell area (432 metres above sea-level) where the Syöte National Park and Visitor Centre are located. The administrative centre of Pudasjärvi Town is located at the junction of highway 20 (Oulu-Kuusamo) and trunk road 78 (Kajaani-Rovaniemi). The river Iijoki flows through the town centre.
