Apart from peace of nature and superb hill landscapes the town of Joensuu (pop. 72000) offers you cultural attractions , good shopping venues and a variety of activities to pursue.
There is a wide range of accomodation facilities from hotels in the town centre to countryside holiday villages and cabins.
The events on offer range from rock to gospel, from mushroom picking competitions to Kekri celebration. Lake cruises are operated from Joensuu Harbour by M/S Satumaa, M/s Vinkeri and M/S Pyhäselkä while buses, a street train and a horse buggy are at the visitors’ disposal in the town.
Carelicum centre, Taitokortteli, the Art Museum and Ahjo Art Centre are within walking distance from the Market Square. Pyhäselkä can be reached by bus or by bike. If you wish to visit Tuupovaara Art Centre or Eno Art Gallery, we recommend you to go by car.
