LAPINJÄRVI IS NATURALLY NEAR

The municipality of Lapinjärvi by highway 6 is known as an active municipality keeping abreast with the times. As a place to live in provides a worthy alternative to any town or city: in practical terms Lapinjärvi is a place providing a smooth running of your daily life in a safe environment, a home with more space at a lower cost, and all this near the large population centres of Southern Finland. Apart from housing, the location of Lapinjärvi just an hour’s drive away from the metropolitan Helsinki area provides an excellent setting for an enterprise as well. Lapinjärvi is naturally near. This implies a number of things. The strong food industry and the service industries based partly on local demand and partly on demand from the population centres of the neighbouring areas are among the industries which create the most jobs in Lapinjärvi, and to this must be added the influence of agriculture and forestry. Porlammi cheese, the travel centre Pukaron Paroni and Lapinjärvi bakeries  are some of the product and brand names that are well known on a national level. A large number of telecommuters have become attracted to Lapinjärvi both because of its good geographic location and because of the idyllic and well functioning living environment it provides.

TOURISM AND ATTRACTIONS

The countryside offers a great deal more to see than just traditional churches, though it must be admitted that the  two wooden churches of Porlammi standing side by side are well worth visiting. There are several local heritage museums such as the Porlammi local heritage museum the Brofogdas army officer’s home from the 18th century, the Kycklings house in the church village, and the soldier’s croft Hurtig. All these museums provide memorable experiences for visitors interested in history. History, art and handicrafts are provided by Rutum Manor and the antique shop and restaurant Antik Anna as well as by the art house of Kimonkylä and brownie centre Arstu. A variety of accomodation and catering services are provided for groups and individual tourists. Even large groups can be pleasantly accommodated at Hotel Hanhi or the well equipped holiday village on the hotel premises. Visitors to Porlammi can engage in a variety of activities, e.g. horse riding, fishing and exhibitions.
