Places to see
- Rikalanmäki in Halikko dating from the 11th and 12th centuries is one of the most important archaeological sites in Finland. The site, one of the power centres of its time, can be explored with a guide on an archaeological trail, preferably in summer. The atmosphere of the site can be continued at the local Räntmestarin krouvi restaurant. Map
- Meritalon museo is a local museum located in an idyllic quarter of wood houses by Uskelanjoki river in Salo. The museum is housed in a building from the 1840’s which was originally a building where farm workers lived and where, in 1873, the first elementary school of Salo was started. The museum presents old school and home interiors as well as staging changing exhibitions. Map
- Art Museum Veturitalli is located in an old railway locomotive shed which is over 100 years old and has been recently renovated. The museum stages annually changing exhibitions. The opening hours of the museum café follow the schedule of the exhibitions. In the hall of the museum there is a little museum shop selling giftware and art brochures as well as works and products by local artists and artisans. Map
- Wiurila Manor has been in the possession of important noble families over the centuries. In a milieu reminding of the magnificent history of the Armfelt family visitors can celebrate, have meetings, play golf and do horse riding. There is a little manor hostel and an idyllic gift shop on the premises. The horse carriage museum and the manor museum are open for groups by appointment and for individual visitors during the opening hours of the manor shop.
- In summer, art exhibitions are arranged in Kiskon Kivimakasiini by Kisko-Seura, the local heritage association of Kisko. Map
- Kulttuuritila Kiva is a renovated Art Nouveau building designed by architect Erik Bryggman. When used for theatrical purposes the building can seat 371 people. Map
- Teijo Hiking Area run by Metsähallitus. the National Forest Board, is located in a milieu of cultural historical importance. Wilderness scenery, fishing in the sea and lakes, 50 kilometres of trails planned for hiking and outdoor activities including campfire places and lean-tos provide excellent opportunities for recreation in the outdoors. Teijo Hiking Area has facilities for camping and caravanning. A lakeside swimming beach and a sauna which can be booked. Fishing permits, lunch and hiking gear available from the Luontotalo hiking cabin. Map
