Almost a quarter of the total area of Sulkava is covered by lakes – predominantly by Lake Saimaa, which gives visitors excellent opportunities for water-bound activities, such as fishing, canoeing and boating. The canoeing route from Juva to Sulkava runs through a superb wilderness landscape. Sulkava has a Marimekko outlet with its customary selection of products which are beautiful and practical at the same time.
The Sulkava Rowing Event, which has a history going back more than forty years, invites rowing enthusiasts to come and row round the biggest island in Lake Saimaa at the second weekend in July.
