Attractions
  • The Pielinen Museum is the second largest open-air museum in Finland.
  • The Eva Ryynänen Atelier with its wood sculptures and Paateri Church are among the most popular attractions in Lieksa.
  • Rapid shooting rides are arranged on the Ruunaa route of rapids and the route provides excellent canoeing for paddlers of all experience levels. Ruunaa is a popular fishing ground and the area has 50 kilometres of signposted hiking trails.
  • The river Jongunjoki attracts canoeing enthusiasts and guided canoe trips are also provided.
  • The Patvinsuo National Park the largest (105 square kilometres) national park in southern Finland, is an internationally known wetland reserve. The network of hiking trails in the park is 80 kilometres long.
  • Elämyspiha PikkuKili is a domestic animal and pet farm with 200 hundred animals.
  • The history of the Winter War is presented by the Änäkäinen Defense Line in Nurmijärvi village.
  • Koli Mountain and the Koli National Park with its magnificent scenery and views over Lake Pielinen are considered national attractions.
